This keerai kootu features in our meals at least once a week. With all the health benefits spinach boasts of, and the fact that none of us really like eating green leafy vegetables raw, it seemed a good idea to make a simple dish that goes well with another one of our staples – rice!

I love making Burgers! Honestly, they are one of the easiest dishes to make on short notice. And if you’re a vegetarian, there’s really not much prep-work you need to do to make burgers. From start to finish, you can make burgers in under an hour. So why am I sharing yet another burger recipe?

Look, I made Dal Pakwan! Can you believe I hadn’t tasted this Sindhi delicacy until a couple months ago?

A dal pakwan is a combination of dal (lentils) and pakwan (crunchy snack). The idea is to dip the pakwan in the dal and eat it. Adding to the flavors are sweet and spicy chutneys and onions and cilantro that take this dish up a notch. You don’t have to serve them on the side,  but I highly suggest you do.

Dal Pakwan has quickly replaced my favorite Ragda Puri. Both are similar in that there’s a lentil based curry and something crunchy served with sweet and spicy chutneys. The next time you have some time and want to make something peppy, think of making the Sindhi dal pakwan!   (more…)
