Sabudana Vada (Low fat version)

Sabudana Vada is my favorite Maharashtrian snack. Not only do I love Sabudana (Pearl Tapioca), but the simplicity of cooking up this snack makes the dish even better! Of course, traditionally, this is a deep fried snack. I’m trying to cut back on the oil so I went with the shallow fried version; which trust me – was beyond amazing! In fact, the absence of excess oil made the snack healthy and refreshing! (more…)

Microwave Poha ~ a quick breakfast / snack

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say “Poha is the best snack you’ll ever have.” Many people would disagree. But then again, I say that about almost every dish; which is probably why I’ll never be a food critic. The idea of criticizing food is appalling. (I know that’s not all food critics do. I’m just merely saying I cannot analyze food that way.) Every dish has some cons and many pros. I tend to concentrate on the pros. Dabeli | Indian Sloppy Joe

Dabeli is traditionally sold on the streets of Gujarat and Mumbai. It is made with a sweet and spicy potato mixture which is filled into a small burger bun and then topped with onion, pomegranate, fresh garlic chutney and sév. Pomegranate gives the additional juicy tart-like taste to the Dabeli. (in fact, I would go to the extent of saying – if you can’t find pomegranates, don’t eat dabeli! :D) (more…)
