Commonly served for breakfasts in the lands of Punjab, I’ve heard. But that hasn’t stopped any of us from enjoying these hot and soft flat-breads at varying times of the day. This recipe is the epitome of the saying – simplicity is profound. Radish, flour and some common spices found in an Indian’s pantry thrown together and voila! To a regular person, food is a necessity to survive. For me, it is the essence of my soul!!! Food and books are the only two things that nourish my soul like no other experience / thing ever could!

And because I’m madly in love with all the food that I’ve cooked / eaten / yet to cook / yet to eat, I’ve made a list of foods I want to eat before I die. For a food nerd such as myself, that means almost every single dish ever invented by mankind.

For now, I’m happily munching on this Indianized version of a Subway Sandwich (which – FYI – has been on my to-cook list for about 2 years now).  Pretty much following McDonald’s footsteps, Subway came to India with a bunch of Indian-inspired sandwiches. And their customization has paid off big time. Subway today sells some of the best sandwiches in India of which this Veggie Patty Sub is a favorite among vegetarians. (more…)

Sabudana Khichdi

Sabudana Khichdi, from the western lands of Maharashtra, is a simple one pot meal dish commonly prepared for breakfasts or during religious festivals. Plump pearl tapioca cooked with ground peanuts and very mild spices can give you that subtle feeling of being infinitely satisfied with something so humble! 🙂

However, it is a wholesome dish which would give you everything you need to keep up your energy all day  long.

And did I mention how easy it is to put this together?

Not to mention how simply deliciously chewy this Khichdi is?
