It is tangy, spicy and aromatic. It goes well with rice, vadas or as is like a soup. This versatile dish is one of the most loved soup/side among South Indians – and rightly so.

A quick look at the recipes on this blog will reveal 2 things: I’m obsessed with chocolate and rice. There is no dearth of recipes using either of the 2 ingredients. When it comes to dessert, I love using chocolate more than anything else. And when it comes to entrée, the desi soul in me automatically looks for something with rice in it.

This keerai kootu features in our meals at least once a week. With all the health benefits spinach boasts of, and the fact that none of us really like eating green leafy vegetables raw, it seemed a good idea to make a simple dish that goes well with another one of our staples – rice!
