I love Malabar Paratha. I like to call this Parotta. A popular Kerala street food, this is a great alternative to flatbreads liek roti or paratha. It is similar to lachcha paratha, but made with all purpose flour instead of wheat.

Thin layers of dough neatly stacked on top of the other and fried to crispy perfection makes this flatbread unlike any other. It is traditionally served with Vegetable Kurma, but honestly- it tastes brilliant with any spicy Indian side dish.   (more…)

Vada Pav. The name alone is enough to bring a smile on every Mumbaikar’s face.  I have fond memories of eating this delicious and filling snack almost every day during college. Vada Pav and Pani Puri were solely responsible for my brush with obesity in my late teens and early 20s. I’m healthier now, it’s all good. But my love for this snack still continues with an intensity like never before. I was delighted to recreate one of my favorite fast foods at home!

Go make some Vada Pav and enjoy it with a hot cup of Masala Chai.    (more…)

Fresh cubes of paneer delicately spiced with garam masala and sandwiched between fresh veggies in a hot and soft roll!

I’ve made a Subway-inspired Sandwich before. The success of that recipe inspired me to recreate some of my favorite Subs with an Indian twist. This paneer tikka subway sandwich combines the fine art of sandwich making with classic North Indian flavors. Unlike a typical paneer tikka masala, this recipe for Paneer tikka doesn’t call for too many ingredients. With a tonne of protein packed into a little sandwich, this is also a great healthy option for snack or lunch or dinner time.   (more…)

Vegetarian Chinese Sizzler

Step by step guide to putting together a delicious vegetarian Chinese Sizzler.

Vegetarian Chinese Sizzler Recipe | Indo-Chinese Inspired Recipes | Written by Kavitha Ramaswamy of Foodomania.com

There is no one way to make Sizzlers. The name of the dish is inspired by how the food is presented to you – hot and sizzling. So you could serve pretty much anything on a hot, sizzling iron plate and call it your own Sizzler. You’ll need a special kind of serving dish known as the Sizzler plate. It comes with a wooden stand and a groove with an iron plate. You cook the food and add it to the hot burning iron plate. And to avoid burning yourself, you place the plate on the wooden stand. If you don’t find this plate or do not want to buy it, you could mimic its functions by placing the food on any iron plate and placing that plate on a wooden board.
