Dal Pakwan is a classic Sindhi Breakfast Dish

Look, I made Dal Pakwan! Can you believe I hadn’t tasted this Sindhi delicacy until a couple months ago?

A dal pakwan is a combination of dal (lentils) and pakwan (crunchy snack). The idea is to dip the pakwan in the dal and eat it. Adding to the flavors are sweet and spicy chutneys and onions and cilantro that take this dish up a notch. You don’t have to serve them on the side,  but I highly suggest you do.

Dal Pakwan has quickly replaced my favorite Ragda Puri. Both are similar in that there’s a lentil based curry and something crunchy served with sweet and spicy chutneys. The next time you have some time and want to make something peppy, think of making the Sindhi dal pakwan!   (more…)

A cross between Pasta and a Casserole dish, Lasagna combines best of both worlds. It is time consuming and requires good planning for all the different layers. But if you plan well, it is a breeze to put together! You don’t need to be intimidated by this recipe at all!    (more…)

How to make healthy Sindhi Koki Recipe at home with step by step pictures - by Kavitha Ramaswamy @ Foodomania.com

My Sindhi friend and colleague tells me this is veryyyyy close to her authentic Koki recipe.

Why did I tell you this?

Because it is difficult to nail the perfect Sindhi Koki. So I’m mighty pleased that I came thisssss close to the Koki she is used to. I’m going to keep trying. But apparently every Sindhi household has its own version of the Koki. So there are tonnes of possibilities.    (more…)
