I made these granola bites about 2 months ago. Everyday since then, I’ve been eating one of these to satisfy my sweet tooth and my 4 pm-hunger.

You know, it is that time of the day when you feel like you’ve just got to reach out for a burger or order a plate of fries…. I’ve successfully resisted doing that for the past couple months… all thanks to these hunger-squashing super power nuggets! It did take a while for me to get used to this change in the menu. A granola bite is after all NOT a slice of pizza. For picky eaters, this may not be love at first sight. But stay with it, one bite at a time. It’ll grow on you.

As an unexpected yet welcome side effect of this ritual, I now see that my skin and hair have really started to improve! The omega-3 rich flax seeds and protein rich everything else have definitely contributed in a big way to my health! And now you can do this for yourself too! 🙂

Re-posting a very, very old post today. I had somehow missed this recipe when I started Foodomania. This reminds me of my very beginning days of blogging. This recipe still is as good as it was when I made it over 3 years ago! 🙂

Garbanzo beans (Chickpea/ Chole). Such beautiful legumes! There isn’t a single savory dish you could make with chickpeas that I’d dislike. With their natural high protein content, garbanzo beans make for a natural choice for diet-conscious vegetarians. Here is another recipe from the southern regions of India, accentuating the deliciousness of chickpeas!

Sundal – a word that could possibly mean Salad. There are various kinds of Sundal that South Indians make. Think – as many lentils & legumes there are, twice or thrice as many (known) Sundal recipes exist! The most commonly prepared and loved Sundal though is this Chickpea Sundal.

The “dressing” is made up of my mom’s concocted spice blend and some coconuts, curry leaves & mustard seeds cooked in a little splash of oil. (Before you cringe – a little fat is GOOD for your health, okay?!) If you’ve been put off by bland bean salads before, give this one a chance and you’ll be surprised to find a new favorite. 🙂 (more…)

No kidding! Every once in a while, I come across a truly brilliant recipe that just screams gourmet goodness! These corn cheese balls were such elegant little treats I came across while surfing one of the gazillion cooking shows on television. The idea of a white sauce base to otherwise regular corn balls was really interesting for me to experiment. Stuffing them with a cube of mozzarella was a stroke of genius, I believe. And I have my No-Meatball Sliders to thank that for!

These corn cheese balls are definitely an indulgence – one that you should let yourself have once, maybe twice a year! They go heavy on everything – cheese, oil, seasonings etc. Needless to say, exercise caution while making these beauties since self control is not something you might have while frying them up! Let me introduce y’all to this gobsmackingly delicious, healthy snack time treat! These are my spicy oven roasted chickpeas.

My obsession with beans is well known in my neighborhood. So much so that many a time, bean curries are sent across just for me to taste them! I’m not kidding! Kidney Beans and Chickpeas are my 2 all time favorite beans. That they come packed with goodness of proteins is just an additional benefit! I’d be eating them with or without the promise of proteins! 😉
