Mangoes are in season!

I’m yet to meet someone who despises mangoes. How can one really?  For someone with a sweet tooth as intense as mine, desserts are the bane of our existence! Moderation, Special occasions are words we don’t find in our dictionary. But dessert cravings can be managed. A mango is all I need to forget about that chocolate cake (wait – did I say cake? gotta make me some of that now!).

Aamras is simply mango puree flavored with cardamom or ginger. That’s it. You can probably stop reading now since that’s all there is to this recipe! But if you want, I’ll write it out for you!

Seriously, no drama.

Paruppu podi is a spicy lentil-based chutney powder eaten with hot rice and a hint of ghee. Paruppu literally translates to lentil and Podi is powder. Blends like this, Curry Leaves Powder and Milagai Podi come in handy when you are pressed for time or are in no mood to cook. All you have to do is cook some rice / reheat leftover rice, add a dash of Ghee (optional) and as much or as little of this chutney powder, mix and eat!
