What is your fix? A detox smoothie? Or some lemon juice maybe? For me, it is usually a glass of buttermilk (for you baking fanatics, this doesn’t refer to the one that you make by curdling milk with vinegar). We call it More or Chaas in India and make it by diluting plain yogurt. It is a 100% natural and a very good source of protein and calcium! It is so filling that you can have this as a mid meal in itself. It is also a great post-workout drink. Having so many obvious health benefits and flavors so fantastic, this spiced oats buttermilk is a breeze to make!

Serves: 2-3 glasses
Ingredients
  • ½ cup Oats (preferably instant / quick cooking)
  • ½ cup thick, plain Yogurt (Curd)
  • 2 Green chilli (1 for less spicy)
  • 1 teaspoon Grated Ginger
  • Handful of fresh Mint Leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ Lemon Wedge
  • 1 cup Water
1 cup = 200 mls
Instructions
  1. Add oats to plain yogurt. Mix well and let it rest for 30 minutes
  2. To a blender / grinder / mixer, add mint, chili, ginger. Give a quick blitz.
  3. Add the oats-yogurt mixture. Blend until you have a smooth mixture
  4. Add to a mixing bowl along with the water, salt and squeeze some lemon juice. Mix well
  5. Pour into glasses. Add an ice cube if required & serve!

Add the green chilli, ginger, mint leaves to a blender / grinder / mixer. Give a quick mix to break them up.

Add the oats+yogurt mixture

Grind for 1 minute till you have a smooth mixture

Remove. If it is too thick, dilute with a cup of water. Squeeze some lemon juice and season with salt to taste. Serve chilled or at room temperature
