Here’s a great recipe for a light and airy vegan aquafaba chocolate mousse!

This aquafaba chocolate mousse is an absolute decadence! I didn’t believe I could make one without any of the pantry staples – milk, butter, cream, or whipped cream! And yet, what I got was absolutely airy, light, and delicious mousse. Needless to say, I’m trippin’ on aquafaba big time!

So if you landed here, you must already know what aquafaba is. It is the leftover liquid from cooking chickpeas (or garbanzo beans). When whipped, it has properties similar to egg-whites. You’re left with a gorgeous, fluffy whipped cream from just this liquid. And no, it doesn’t smell funky (like beans do). It works well in this dessert. Trust me!

This is what makes the mousse fluffy!

I usually don’t use eggs in my mousse. I’ve got two versions already on the blog: Eggless Chocolate Mousse using Agar Agar and Chocolate Marshmallow Mousse. Both recipes call for milk, butter, and whipped cream. If I had to compare this aquafaba chocolate mousse to my dairy versions, I’d say it is up there with both versions! If you don’t believe it, just give it a try. You’ll be as surprised as I was when I tried it for the first time.
