Got some leftover cake and want to make something easy yet fancy? Then do give this recipe a try. With leftover chocolate cake, chocolate ganache and caramel on hand, I decided to put them all together to make some fantastic chocolate bombs!

The caramel stuffing inside is definitely something people will not expect until they’ve bitten into these cake pops. But it is a pleasent surprise. And it takes less than 30 minutes to prep the whole thing.

Description

Delicious and easy to make caramel-stuffed chocolate cake bombs!

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1, 6 inch chocolate cake, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate Ganache
  • 1/4 cup chopped Chocolate (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Solidified Caramel
  • Chocolate Sprinkles – for decoration

Notes

  • Chocolate Ganache – heat equal parts cream and chcoolate together and mix to form a smooth sauce
  • Solidified Caramel – I froze homemade caramel overnight. Use any caramel or dulce de leche that can be rolled into a ball.

Instructions

  1. Crush the cake with a fork or your fingers.
  2. Add some chopped chocolate, chocolate ganache and mix well. The mixture will be sticky yet not runny.
  3. Cover and freeze for 20 minutes. The cake mixture should be thick.
  4. Take 1-2 Tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball.
  5. Create an indent in the center.
  6. Place some solid caramel in the center and bring the cake mixture around it.
  7. Re-roll into a neat tight ball.
  8. Roll the ball in some chocolate sprinkles.
  9. Repeat with rest if the mixture. Place all cake bombs in an airtight container and freeze until set. (2 hours or overnight)
  10. Caramel-stuffed chocolate cake bombs ready to be served.

Notes

  1. If the cake mixture is a bit too runny to be formed into balls – even after freezing – then add some more cake and mix well.
  2. Always keep them refrigerated. These stay good for 1 week.
