  • Yield: 4-8 crescents 1x

For the Pizza Dough (skip if using store bought dough)

  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Yeast (I used Instant Yeast)
  • 1/3 cup Warm Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Oil (olive or vegetable)

For Garlic Crescent Rolls

  • Pizza Dough (around half of the above)
  • 10 Garlic Cloves, grated or minced finely
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup grated / shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Herbs (oregano / thyme / pepper etc)
  • 1 teaspoon Hot Pepper Flakes (optional)

For the Dough (** alternatively: use store bought dough)

  1. In warm water, mix sugar & instant yeast & let it rest for 2 minutes
  2. Mix all purpose flour & salt
  3. Add oil & the water mixture to the flour
  4. Knead for 10 minutes by hand (or 6-7 minutes with electric mixer) to form a smooth & elastic dough
  5. Place the ball of dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap or moist kitchen towel & let it rise for 1 hour or till it doubles in volume.
  6. Then punch down the dough and use as required

For the Garlic Crescent Rolls

  1. Cut the Pizza dough into equal pieces and form medium sized balls of dough.
  2. On a well floured surface, roll out the ball of dough into a flat round disk. (make sure to flour the surface well otherwise the dough may stick to the surface and prove difficult to roll)
  3. Mix the grated / minced garlic with warm melted butter. Apply it all over the rolled out dough leaving about half an inch on all sides
  4. Sprinkle the spices & cheese evenly on the rolled out dough.
  5. Cut the round disk in half, then quarters and cut each slice (quarter) in half to give you 8 small triangles.
  6. Roll each triangle from the base to the top. If some cheese / spice falls out stick it back in. Place each crescent on a well oiled and lined baking sheet.
  7. Cover loosely & let the garlic crescent rolls rest for about 10-15 minutes. (they will puff up a bit)
  8. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200C/400F
  9. Brush each roll with remaining garlic butter mixture (or oil / egg wash / milk / cream / melted butter)
  10. Bake at 200 C for 15-20 minutes or until the garlic crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked through.
  11. Serve as is or with ketchup / Mayo / any sauce

  1. You can make the Pizza dough at home using my simple recipe OR you can buy it from your local stores. If you’re using frozen dough, make sure to thaw it overnight and let it rise at a warm spot for 30 minutes before using it.
  2. If you want larger garlic crescent rolls, just cut the round rolled out dough in 4 equal parts (that is: Once lengthwise and once across) Then roll each slice similarly.
