I know what you’re thinking… Why would anyone want to destroy the beautiful Ferrero Rocher Candy? I’ll tell you why.
Because these Ferrero Rocher Candies were made for greater things. These Ferrero Rocher add a delicious punch to the otherwise mundane chewy – almost fudgy bars. These Ferrero Rocher Candies are what make these bars truly phenomenal.
Now, if you don’t have Ferrero Rocher on hand / don’t want to buy them, then I’d say you could probably use any other candy and maybe some ground hazelnuts. But I do request you to try this recipe at least once.
Ferrero Rocher Bars Recipe
Add Ferrero Rochers to a zip lock bag. Beat them until they resemble crumbs. Alternatively you could pass them through a food processor or crush with a mortar & pestle.
Meanwhile, heat brown sugar and water until the sugar dissolves in the water. (Ignore this step if you want to use powdered sugar). Add yogurt / sour cream / cream AND vegetable oil and mix well.
Add the crushed candy and mix well. You’ll notice that the candy starts to melt into the mixture and you’ll have a dark brown mixture.
Sift in the flour, salt & baking powder , baking soda. Mix until just combined (do not over mix or you’ll end up with a bread like texture)
Pour batter into prepared baking pan
Bake at 160 C for 20 minutes or until completely done. Let it cool completely. Loosen the edges and remove it from the mold. Do not cut until it has had a chance to cool for several hours.
Cut into bars and serve. Store in air tight container at room temperature for 3-4 days.
