Protein Powder Popsicles: my new post-workout treat! Did you know, that you can safely cook with protein powder, and the heat doesn’t denature or destroy it? So the next time you decide to bake a batch of cookies or brownies, or make pancakes, think about upping the protein content by adding a scoop or two of protein powder! Go beyond consuming it in a shake-form, and get creative!

I got a tub of Vegan Protein Powder from Naked Nutrition, and immediately thought about making these creamy popsicles! With the temperatures rising this summer, I turn to the freezer at every chance I get! While I love a good protein shake for my post-workout meal, I also like to switch things up once in a while.

How to make Protein Powder Popsicles?

These popsicles are really easy to make! All you need to do is mix the protein powder with some milk (I used plant-based milk), cornstarch and sugar (or maple syrup). You can skip the sugar if you like having your protein shakes without. But I highly recommend adding the sweetness for the popsicles. Once the mixture is somewhat thickened and smooth, add some crushed nuts (optional) and mix well. Then pour into popsicles molds, add the sticks & freeze until set. It should usually take overnight or 7-8 hours at least. Then run some warm water on the back of the mold, the popsicles will loosen! That’s it!

You can use this recipe and tweak it to suit your preference. I usually like to use protein powders I like to consume as a shake. Because all you’re making is a protein-shake in a popsicle form. So choose one that you like to consume on a regular basis.

Ingredients

  • 2 scoops Protein Powder
  • 1 cup Milk (Dairy or Plant-Based)
  • 1/4 cup Sugar or Maple Syrup (adjust for sweetness desired)
  • 1 TBsp Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup crushed Nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • In a pan, add milk, sugar, cornstarch and mix well
  • Add protein powder & mix until the mixture is thickened
  • Pass it through a sieve to have a smooth mixture
  • Then add spiced crushed nuts & mix well
  • Add into popsicles molds, add sticks & freeze
  • Freeze 6-8 hours or overnight, until set
  • Run warm water through popsicles molds, remove the popsicles
  • Consume within 1 week!
