There’s something fun about a thick spongy layer of bread, then spiced veggies, some cheese and another layer of bread. You can make this in a pizza pan or a tart pan. I recommend a pan with removable bottom, just so its easy to get the pizza out. But if not, just make sure to grease the pan well with oil or melted butter, and add some cornmeal or semolina at the bottom. This will allow you to de-mold the pizza easily.

For the pizza dough, you can make a batch at home, it’s really easy. But if you don’t have the time or ingredients to make it, you can also buy a pound from your local grocery store. And if you really don’t wanna make this as a deep dish, then simply make a regular pizza & enjoy!

You can have fun with the filling! I recommend using veggies like onion, bell peppers, sweet corn, spinach etc. But you can also use protein of your choice, like grilled tofu, chicken etc. Don’t overfill or the pizza will get soggy. One of the things about this pizza is that the veggie mixture might spill while slicing it. But that’s part of the fun of a thick pizza pie like this one!

Here’s a quick recipe video for the deep dish pizza –
